History of Glykeria Hotel
The history of Glykeria Hotel dates back to the 70’s, where our grandfather and grandmother “Glykeria” often visited the Monastery of Chrysoskalitissa. Our grandmother had some health problems, and whenever she visited the specific monastery and the specific area she felt better.
As their visits to the monastery of Chrysoskalitissa became more and more frequent, they decided to build a house as a country house. After a while they decided to make the cottage a permanent residence.
Their love for hospitality led them to build in 1979 a small tavern with a few rooms at a time when there was no electricity or water in the area.
There was a generator with which they had electricity for a few hours and the water was supplied from the villages on the mountain where they went and filled barrels every night after the shift closed.
Our grandparents were characterized by hospitality and love for their fellow human beings, and this was felt by those who knew them. They took care of the guests, transported them and guided them to various places ensuring that they would have a nice time, while at the same time they built a tavern offering visitors simple and traditional flavors.
In 1993 our parents Vangelis and Agnetta also returned from Sweden where our mother comes from, and seeing the vision of our grandparents they followed the same path by building guest rooms (today’s Glykeria Hotel). Over the years the business evolved gradually, while in 2004 the hotel pool was built.
In 2012 the operation of the business was undertaken by us children, Glykeria, Nikos and Michalis, keeping the mentality of the values of both our parents and grandparents, trying to offer the best hospitality to our visitors.
